From dedicated volunteer to impactful leader, Hannah Floyd has made a lasting difference through her work with Wegene Youth Club. Hannah served as the WYC 2023/24 Assistant Director of Fundraising, where she helped generate fundraising ideas, organize events, prepare reports, and build relationships with donors.

In addition to her leadership within the club, Hannah competed in the Grand African Run for Wegene, where she placed 2nd overall and became one of the organization’s top fundraisers. Through her outstanding efforts, she earned the African Impact Award for her dedication and service to raising money.

During the summer of 2024, Hannah traveled to Ethiopia for the first time with her family. Throughout her journey, she organized a shoe drive with her high school track team and visited the Wegene Knowledge Center. Hannah witnessed how the center provides students with educational resources, tutoring, meals, recreation, and a supportive environment where children can learn and grow. She especially enjoyed connecting with the students, hearing about their dreams for the future, and seeing the determination they carried despite challenges. 

 

Today, Hannah continues her journey at James Madison University, where she is majoring in nursing as part of the Class of 2029.
